"If you don’t fail it’s because you did not risk enough, and if you didn’t risk enough it’s because..."

“If you don’t fail it’s because you did not risk enough, and if you didn’t risk enough it’s because you didn’t put your whole self out there.”

- Carlos Barrabes, Entrepreneur (via forbes)

ashdidthat: My name is Ash Brown and my company is Ash Said It...

ashdidthat:

My name is Ash Brown and my company is Ash Said It LLC. We are a full service public speaking boutique. I host receptions, fashion expos as well as upscale soirées. I have over 10+ years of experience as a radio announcer & I’ve recently honorably discharged from the military.

I had no plans to build a company. The thought never even crossed my mind. The past few years have been tough. Being a full time caregiver is a lot. I took care of my mom for 3+ years & I would easily do it again. My mother never taught me how to be a lady. She showed me through her actions. She never let anyone take advantage of her meek yet resilient spirit. Thank God inherited that spark!
I buried my mom in 2014. That was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done in my entire existence. I was lost. My heart was no longer in military service. I needed to leave but I had no blueprint on where to go. I did many odd jobs that year. Helped build multiple brands & had nothing to show for it.
Then one day a light bulb went off in my head. Why the heck am I wasting time helping people disinterested in helping themselves? Why don’t I pour my 13+ years of industry experience into something I can call my own. That’s when Ash Said It was born!

This company is my baby. I believe in it more than I’ve ever believed in anything. Confirmation came when I filed with the state & made an informal announcement to past colleagues. Instead of talking me out of it, they encouraged me. They helped with themes & marketing strategies. I felt so blessed. Not everybody was happy for me. I had some ‘friends’ that completely discouraged the idea. Those negative spirits had to exit. I only have room for positive energy.

If there is an idea sitting on your heart, you owe it to yourself to follow through with it! People don’t always support.
Sometimes you have to be your own ‘Cheerleader’ and that’s ok. Never stop! Never give up! Keep pushing! I hope this helps someone follow their heart. Introduction to Peer to Peer Lending

socialbanker:

Why Peer to Peer Lending?

Investment Comparison(s):

  • US Treasuries (no risk with 3 years 0.35% and 5 years at 0.85% returns…)
  • Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS - MBB) 4.5% returns insured by government.  Highly sensitive to interest rate fluctuations
  • Peer to Peer Lending (Non Collateral Loans) This is the riskiest of loans where defaults usually result in recovery of 1-3% of original principal.   With returns 100 times higher than treasuries and 2-3 times higher than safer bonds, the challenge is to REDUCE RISK while maintaining a higher return

Why dentistry over medicine?

whatneverchanges:

I’ve noticed a lot of people are struggling to decide, so here is my very rough explanation of why I prefer the former :)

- I love the artistic aspect of dentistry: sculpting, 3D skills, utilising different materials to create and perfect the mouth, application of fine motor skills, individually crafting what will eventually be a literal part of the patient
- I want to be in surgery and work with my hands, but not 15 years down the track. We began working with our hands in the first few weeks of dental school. We will have our first patient at the start of 2nd year.
- I want to be able to see an immediate impact for my patients with, for example, restorative or cosmetic work. I think that’s incredibly satisfying.
- I want a career that allows for a specific lifestyle where I am well compensated for my years of education and training, without restricting my free time. I want this lifestyle and career to allow for travelling often, potentially moving cities and countries, and providing enough money and time for a family.
- I want a career that involves using novel technology often. In the first couple of weeks of dental school we had experiences with haptic simulators, 3D printing, and sophisticated preclinical work on our faux-patients.
- I don’t want to spend the majority of my late teens and 20′s in education and for my career. I can leave dental school and be a Doctor of Dental Surgery, instead of an intern.
Overlapping advantages with medicine:
- I want to have my own patients whose quality of life I am able to impact positively
- I want autonomy over my career with the option of opening up my own clinic
- I want the option of specialising in incredible fields that will further perfect and expand my skillset
- I want to have the option of positively impacting my community, through volunteering or involvement in public health campaigns
